About Shop Jobie

Two opposites, one vision

Shop Jobie started with an unlikely partnership. Debbie Baker and Jo Baumgartner couldn’t be more different. And that’s precisely their strength.

Debbie brings the creative firepower: decades in design web development, and handcrafted goods. She sees products as tiny pieces of art.

Jo operates from the business side: 40+ years navigating corporate real estate and finance, with an admitted weakness for beautiful things that shouldn’t fit her budget (but somehow do).

Even the name “Jobie” reflects their chemistry, pulled together from the first and the last letters of their names plus their shared “B” initials. Slap “Shop” in front, and you’ve got a brand that’s part boutique, part creative experiment.

Their division of labor runs clean: Debbie handles design, tech infrastructure, and supplier connections. Jo manages operations, inventory decisions, and financial logistics. The outcome? A store that balances sophistication with a sense of play.

The challenge: Making online browsing feel less predictable

Shop Jobie didn’t want to run just another product catalog. They wanted to inject that specific feeling you get when you stumble onto something unexpected, the kind of moment that makes shopping feel less like a chore and more like a treasure hunt.

Their goals:

  • Build anticipation into the browsing experience

  • Find creative ways to group products together

  • Offer curated surprises without losing quality control

When mystery boxes entered their radar, the reaction was instant:

“We saw this and went, Ta-Da! This might be the trick.”

The solution: Demographic-based mystery boxes

Unlike other mystery box apps that require merchants to pre-pack or manually assign items and remove the real element of surprise, Mysbox delivers true randomization. Shop Jobie simply sets up a prize pool (for example, a “Women’s Box” with 20 possible items), and the app automatically selects the reward at the moment of purchase.

Mysbox gave them the framework to digitize the old-school grab bag concept, but with intention behind the chaos.

Shop Jobie built their mystery box structure around specific audiences and moments:

  • Men’s boxes

  • Women’s boxes

  • Kids’ selections

  • Holiday-themed bundles

This segmentation meant each box felt thoughtfully assembled rather than thrown together. Customers still get the surprise element, but within guardrails that match their interests.

Two factors sealed the decision for Shop Jobie:

  • Set up simplicity meant they could launch multiple box types without getting bogged down in technical complexity.

  • Responsive support gave them confidence to try something outside their usual product model.

Debbi & Jo’s take:

“We chose Mysbox because it was easy to create the boxes, and the support made a big difference.”

Results: Early traction and behavior shifts

The mystery boxes are still in their launch phase, but the signs point in the right direction:

Browsing patterns shifted, customers linger longer on the mystery box pages, exploring what might be inside. The concept itself generates questions and curiosity, exactly the engagement Shop Jobie wanted to create.

More importantly, they now have a repeatable system for bundling inventory creatively. Products that might sit individually can find new life as part of a curated surprise.

The mystery boxes accomplished their primary objective before a single sale: they made shopping at Shop Jobie feel different.

What’s next

Shop Jobie sees room to expand what they’ve started: The variety potential excites them most, different themes, rotating seasonal boxes, and audience-specific curation that evolves with inventory.

They’re also interested in deeper visual customization to make each box category feel distinct in presentation, not just content.

“The potential variety is what we love most. It solved our desire to bundle products into a mystery box.”

If your brand thrives on personality, curation, and giving customers something they didn’t know they needed, mystery boxes might be your next move.

Mysbox makes it simple to bundle products strategically, create themed boxes for different audiences, and turn browsing into an experience worth repeating.
