Instructions

The steps below show you how to connect Koin Cashback & Store Credit with Shopify Flow and Shopify Email to automatically email customers about the store credit expiration. Since every store is different, you may want to tweak the setup to match your goals.

Step 1: Create a custom program with expiration date

Open the Koin app and set up any custom program with store credit, making sure to Enable expiration date so credits can be tracked and reminded before they expire.

Step 2: Create the Shopify customer segment
In Shopify admin, go to Customers, then click on Segments. In this section, click button Create segment to build a segment for customers with credits that are about to expire.

Use template to create segment.

Search for "store credit" to find the template Customer with store credit expiring in the next 7 days. You also can use other segments that match yourr tarrget.

Remembert to Save the segment (give it a clear name like Credits expiring in 7 days).

*NOTE: You can adjust the number of days to notify customers by changing the value in the code.

Step 3: Prepare your email template

Open the Shopify Email app and go to the Template section, then click Create Template.
Next, set up your email content with a subject line, message, and call-to-action to remind customers about their expiring credits.

Step 4: Build the Shopify Flow that sends the email

Go to Shopify Flow app, Create a new workfow.

For the Trigger, choose Customer joined segment and search for the segment you created in step 2.

For the Action, choose Send Marketing email and select the template you prepared in step 3.

Step 5: Turn on the workflow and test if it works
Check again and click Turn on workflow to activate it.

To test the flow, create a store credit campaign with an expiration date of less than 7 days (if your segment is set to 7-day expiration). If you used a different number in your segment, make sure the expiration date matches that condition. Then complete a test checkout using the Bogus Gateway and check your inbox to confirm the email is delivered.
